The first time I tried carving a watermelon, it was a hedgehog for my niece’s first birthday party. It turned out surprisingly well and was very easy to do. Since then I have seen loads of amazing designs on Pinterest with ideas on watermelon carving for kids.
It definitely adds a fun and healthy aspect to kids’ party food and can make a great talking point. I followed this tutorial for mine but next t time I would try and get a larger watermelon. It is very addictive! We are going to try the shark as a fun activity for us to do with the kids during the lockdown.
Check out watermelon.org, a website about all things watermelon. They have everything from carving ideas and a guide on how to pick the perfect watermelon to nutrition facts and recipes. We can’t wait to try the sweet watermelon pizza, perfect for summer barbeques.
Let me know if you have tried watermelon carving with your kids. Feel free to share your pics, what did you carve?
